PSYCHIATRY SERVICES

Psychiatric diagnosis and different.

A psychiatric diagnosis is different – there are often no physical symptoms, nor are there any biological tests conclusive for mental distress. Although tests can be important to rule out underlying physical causes, a health professional making a psychiatric diagnosis has to rely on a person’s own description of their thoughts and feelings, alongside observations of their behavior. In this sense, it is often said that those best placed to make a diagnosis are the people themselves, supported by information and empowered discussion with health care professionals.

At Access Health, we do a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation on children, adolescents,s and adult, to diagnose emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders.

Some of our comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis includes the following:

ADHD

Symptoms of ADHD include inattention (not being able to keep focus), hyperactivity (excess movement that is not fitting to the setting), and impulsivity (hasty acts that occur in the moment without thought).

Anxiety

Anxiety disorders are serious mental illnesses that cause significant worry or fear that doesn’t go away and may even get worse over time. We all feel anxious at times, but with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety tends to be fairly constant and has a very negative and intrusive impact on a person’s quality of life.

Bipolar Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that involves experiencing recurring thoughts (obsessions) that may then lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions). These obsessions and compulsions can take up a great deal of time, interfere with a person’s ability to function in their daily life, and create significant distress.

Stress Management

Many of us experience stress in life, whether this is in the short term from one-off projects, or long-term stress from a high-pressure career. Not only can this be profoundly unpleasant, it can seriously affect our health and our work. However, it is possible to manage stress, if you use the right tools and techniques.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that impairs a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave in such a way that they appear to have lost touch with reality. Although not as common as other mental and behavioral diseases, paranoid schizophrenia is a long-term illness that can be severely burdensome.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events. PTSD can develop immediately after an event or it can happen weeks, months or even years later.
