Suicide and Suicidal Thoughts Prevention in Lanham
Suicide and Suicidal Thoughts
Suicide is a profound issue that affects individuals and families across all communities. It is one of the leading causes of death among young people and can impact people of all ages. Feelings of isolation, hopelessness, and overwhelming stress can contribute to suicidal thoughts, but support and intervention can make a significant difference.
At Access Health Services, we provide comprehensive mental health support designed to address the complexities of suicidal thoughts. Our team of licensed professionals offers compassionate, evidence-based therapies that help individuals process and manage their feelings in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.
Understanding Suicide
Suicide is a complex mental health crisis characterized by overwhelming feelings of despair, hopelessness, and self-harm. Individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts may experience deep feelings of isolation, a sense of being a burden, and often a distorted perception that they have no alternatives. For young people especially, social pressures, bullying, academic stress, and traumatic experiences can make life feel unbearable. Tragically, media portrayals can sometimes glamorize suicide, leaving vulnerable individuals without a clear path to seeking help. Rather than providing solutions, these portrayals can heighten confusion, guilt, and helplessness among those already struggling.
Who Can Benefit from Suicidal Thoughts Services?
Access Health Services provides support for people of all ages experiencing suicidal thoughts or ideations.
- Teens facing intense peer pressure, trauma, or academic stress
- Adults struggling with depression, job loss, or life transitions
- Older individuals experiencing loneliness or health-related challenges
The therapeutic environment is beneficial for those who feel isolated, have recently experienced trauma, or have struggled to find effective coping mechanisms. Families and loved ones are also encouraged to engage in counseling to build understanding and a support network for the individual.
How We Help Those Struggling With Suicidal Thoughts
Therapy
Therapy options may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, as well as trauma-focused treatment to address underlying issues related to past experiences.
Holistic Approaches
We emphasize a holistic approach, fostering emotional well-being through counseling and connecting clients with community resources for ongoing support. By guiding individuals toward resilience and self-compassion, we help them see that difficult challenges can be navigated with the right support.
Ongoing Support
Our goal is to provide clients with continuous support and collaborate with families to create a supportive environment. We also connect clients to local resources, support groups, and crisis hotlines to promote ongoing mental well-being.

I've been using their services for years after being referred by a cardiologist. Since the pandemic, having access to tele appointments has been wonderful and convenient! It can take a while to find the right meds or combination of meds that work for you, but once you're able to identify that, the frequency of appointments and length of appointments does go down. At this point, it's relatively routine, painless, and convenient to maintain my prescriptions through tele-appointments. Dr. A listens to your concerns and isn't dismissive like some other doctors can be, which is really appreciated!
