Our goal is to help you better understand yourself, improve your emotional well-being, and build the skills needed to navigate life’s obstacles with confidence.

What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy, sometimes referred to as one-on-one counseling or psychotherapy, is a collaborative process between you and a licensed mental health professional. During therapy sessions, you have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts, feelings, concerns, and experiences in a confidential setting.

Unlike talking to friends or family members, therapy provides professional guidance, evidence-based treatment approaches, and an unbiased perspective. Your therapist works with you to identify patterns, explore underlying issues, and develop practical tools that support your mental and emotional health.

At Access Health Services, we understand that every person’s situation is unique. That’s why we tailor each treatment plan to meet your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

What Should You Expect During Your Therapy Journey

Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it is your first time speaking with a mental health professional. At Access Health Services, we strive to make the process as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

Your first appointment typically involves discussing your concerns, symptoms, personal history, and goals for treatment. This initial assessment helps your therapist gain a better understanding of your situation and create a personalized approach to care.

As therapy progresses, sessions may focus on:

  • Identifying thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress
  • Developing healthy coping strategies
  • Improving communication and interpersonal skills
  • Managing symptoms of anxiety or depression
  • Building confidence and self-awareness
  • Creating realistic goals for personal growth

10/10!!!! Love Dr. A. Best DNP ever. Extremely intelligent, empathetic, consistent, compassionate, and all while being extremely professional. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Been a pt for 6+ years and never had 1 bad experience.

I've been using their services for years after being referred by a cardiologist. Since the pandemic, having access to tele appointments has been wonderful and convenient! It can take a while to find the right meds or combination of meds that work for you, but once you're able to identify that, the frequency of appointments and length of appointments does go down. At this point, it's relatively routine, painless, and convenient to maintain my prescriptions through tele-appointments. Dr. A listens to your concerns and isn't dismissive like some other doctors can be, which is really appreciated!
