Start Your CBT Journey with Access Health Services
At Access Health Services, we recognize that struggles with mental health can make even everyday tasks feel overwhelming. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or overwhelming negative thoughts, it can be difficult to know where to start. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an effective, research-backed approach for helping people identify unhelpful thought patterns, create healthier coping strategies, and create lasting positive change.
Our mental health professionals work with each client to create a treatment plan based on their experiences and goals. We believe therapy should provide practical tools you can use in your everyday life, helping you feel more confident, resilient, and in control of your mental well-being.
What Is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on helping individuals identify unhelpful thought patterns and understand how those thoughts impact their emotions and behaviors. Often, our thoughts influence how we feel and how we respond to situations. When negative thinking patterns become automatic, they can contribute to emotional distress and unhealthy behaviors.
CBT helps you identify these patterns and substitute them with more balanced, realistic ways of thinking. Rather than focusing solely on past experiences, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy emphasizes learning practical skills to help you navigate present-day challenges and prepare for future situations.
At Access Health Services, we guide you through this process in a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Conditions Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Can Help Treat
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been shown to be effective for a range of mental health conditions and everyday life challenges. Depending on your needs, CBT may be recommended as a standalone treatment or alongside medication management and other therapeutic approaches.
Our providers commonly use CBT to help individuals experiencing:
- Stress management
- Low self-esteem
- Anger management
- Grief and loss
- Sleep difficulties
- Life transitions and adjustment challenges
Because CBT focuses on building practical coping skills, many clients continue using what they learn long after therapy has ended.
How Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Works
Every person’s experience is different, which is why we tailor each CBT treatment plan to meet your individual needs. During your sessions, your therapist will help you explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another.
Together, you’ll learn how to:
- Identify negative or distorted thinking patterns
- Challenge beliefs that may no longer serve you
- Develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations
- Improve emotional regulation
- Build confidence in managing stress and anxiety
- Practice coping strategies between therapy sessions
- Set realistic, achievable personal goals
Therapy is a collaborative process. Your therapist works alongside you, helping you build practical skills that promote lasting emotional well-being instead of only providing temporary relief from symptoms.
What to Expect During CBT Sessions
Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it’s your first experience. At Access Health Services, we strive to make every session welcoming, comfortable, and focused on your personal goals.
Your first appointment typically involves discussing your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current challenges, and what you hope to accomplish through therapy. This helps your therapist create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs.
As therapy progresses, you’ll work together to recognize patterns, practice new coping techniques, and monitor your progress over time. Some sessions may include exercises, journaling, or techniques to practice between appointments, allowing you to apply what you’ve learned in real-life situations.
Each session builds upon previous work, helping you develop lasting skills that support emotional growth and resilience.
Benefits of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
One of the reasons CBT is so widely recommended is because it provides practical tools that can create meaningful improvements in daily life. Rather than simply talking through problems, CBT focuses on helping you actively develop healthier ways of thinking and responding.
Many clients experience benefits such as:
- Reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression
- Greater confidence in managing stressful situations
- Improved emotional awareness
- Better communication and relationships
- Healthier coping strategies
- Increased self-esteem
- Better problem-solving skills
- Long-term emotional resilience
While everyone’s progress looks different, many individuals begin noticing positive changes as they consistently apply the skills learned during therapy.

I've been using their services for years after being referred by a cardiologist. Since the pandemic, having access to tele appointments has been wonderful and convenient! It can take a while to find the right meds or combination of meds that work for you, but once you're able to identify that, the frequency of appointments and length of appointments does go down. At this point, it's relatively routine, painless, and convenient to maintain my prescriptions through tele-appointments. Dr. A listens to your concerns and isn't dismissive like some other doctors can be, which is really appreciated!
